Chores

I don't really love chores. Laundry, dishes and especially the bathroom are chores I really have to motivate myself to do. I would much rather be playing outside, going for a walk, or having a tea party with Grace. But, who really loves chores?

I began showing Grace how to help with chores. I definitely want to equip her to help around the house, but she really wants to help. We washed the car and she had her own rag to wash as well. We cleaned the bathroom and she cleaned her bath toys (well kind of). We made brownies and she helped me mix and eat the mix. We put up the dishes and she handed me the silverware. We put some items in the trash together. We gave Emma, the dog, a bath and she played in the water and tried to dry her off with a towel (well more like chased her with a towel). I folded clothes and she unfolded them.

I watched my daughter enjoy these simple, mundane tasks and realized that we can make anything fun if we change perspective. Any chore can become an adventure and opportunity to learn through a toddler's eyes. When I invite her along, I begin to see the same tasks through her lens as well.
